T-Mobile Actually Has a Real “4G” Unlimited Plan

Tarndeep

Well, we all know that all carriers often advertise and love to chant “Unlimited 4G” in their various commercials and adverts, but it was never really “real.” I thought it would always merely by a facade, but T-Mobile recently made it real – yeah, t

hat means no more changing one’s download speed to Edge or 2G after hitting a certain data threshold or limit!

Wednesday, T-Mobile announced a new data plan, simply known as, Unlimited Nationwide 4G Data, and gave us all hope for a fast, cap-less internet experience on our devices once again. This new data plan can be added and kicks in on September 5th, and will throw you back $20 a month when being bundled with a Value voice and text plan or $30 a month, when added to one of the Classic voice and text plan. An example of what a bill may look like, directly from T-Mobile:

A single line Value plan with unlimited talk and Continue reading

Google’s Down With The Pirates, ARRR

Tarndeep

via Neowin

Google’s pretty open with their marketplace and have some pretty controversial apps available for download. The latest controversy is with MP3 Music Downloader Pro, which allows users to search for and download their favorite songs, which can be illegally obtained music or music that is legal to be shared! Now, Google’s retort is along the lines of, we won’t remove this application because it can be used to download legal content, although almost everyone who uses this application uses it to pirate music. The RIAA doesn’t like Google’s stand on this and still demands Google remove this application from the marketplace, but we’re lucky to have people at Google, who are just like us and are willing to stand up for us, whether we’re pirates or not.

However, it’ll be interesting to see if Google keeps this policy considering they plan on releasing their version of Google music. There will be a press conference this Wednesday, in Los Angeles , and T-Mobile will be hosting an after party filled with singers like Drake, Maroon 5, and more. This should be the launch of Google Music as well as, hopefully, the Galaxy Nexus on T-Mobile USA! We’ll have to sit back, wait and see what Google has in store for this application in the near future, Google Music, AND T-Mobile!

T-Mobile’s Got Some Dual Screen Love Coming November 2nd?

Tarndeep

Well, the folks over at Tmonews got there hands on a leaked roadmap sometime ago, and they think that a November 2nd release date for the LG DoublePlay is imminent. This was the dual screen phone packing a 3.5″ primary screen, 2.0″ secondary screen with a Slide-Out QWERTY keyboard, Android 2.3, 4G, 5 megapixel camera, 720p HD video and 1500mAh battery, for those of you who don’t remember.

This certainly looks like an interesting phone to say the least. I’m more excited to see what the developer community can do with this phone and how they can take advantage of that second screen. Stay tuned – we should have a review of this up sometime after release!

Google’s Samsung Galaxy Nexus Coming To Verizon, But What About T-Mobile USA, AT&T, And Sprint?!

Tarndeep
GN Register

The Galaxy Nexus register page on Samsung's site

Two days ago, Verizon confirmed that they would indeed be carrying the Galaxy Nexus, after people began speculating Verizon might not carry the new Nexus phone, by Google. Verizon has a history of doing this with the past Nexus phones, so the worrying was justified, even though the phone being used during the Galaxy Nexus event in Hong Kong, had Verizon’s distinctive 4G LTE branding. The fact of the matter is, for the Nexus One and Nexus S, Google’s page always said Verizon versions coming soon, but it never happened (Excuse my redundancy :p). Now, the people wanting this phone on Verizon can breathe a sigh of relief.

But wait a minute, what about T-Mobile USA, AT&T, and Sprint?! Surely they will be getting the Galaxy Nexus as well, no!?!? Well, this we don’t know; while Google didn’t say which carriers will launch with the Galaxy Nexus in the US, they said they will be producing a HSPA version as well (this goes for T-Mobile and AT&T), but sadly we don’t know if it will be coming to either of these carriers; no hint was given. And as far as Sprint goes, we have no idea, plainly stated. In fact, the details were so vague, we don’t even know when exactly the phone’s coming to Verizon, other than later this year, and this, we know only because of the press release, not Google! However, leaked dates point to a November 10th release, on Verizon’s network. The only other bit of information we have is Samsung’s Galaxy Nexus registration page, which lists many US based carriers – not very helpful. I think the only thing they’ll use this for is checking the most popular carriers demand is in for.

Personally, I’m on T-Mobile USA; I want this phone! Am I worried? Absolutely not, and I’ll tell you why. I’m confident that this phone will be coming to T-Mobile USA for several reasons. For one, Google stated that they WILL be creating an HSPA version of this phone. Secondly, Google’s track record with the previous two Nexus phones gives us no reason not to believe the Galaxy Nexus will come to T-Mobile USA. And lastly, certainly not least, but probably most importantly, Google partially confirmed it will be coming to T-Mobile USA. Well, that’s more of a stretch. I say that Google partially confirmed this just because a tipster who currently has the Galaxy Nexus, who also happens to works at Google, told me indirectly upon being asked, that the phone will be coming to T-Mobile. Now, all I know is this person is pretty trustworthy and will not like to be named. I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but I have a good feeling! Hopefully the same could be said about Sprint and AT&T; that’s something I didn’t ask.

You can find the Verizon Galaxy Nexus press release after the break. Continue reading
