Adam Shear

viagra online“373″ height=”398″ />With the release of Windows 8 coming in the next few months, tablet manufacturers are readying their own Windows 8 tablets to compete in the marketplace.  The tablet PC company Kupa has its users already enjoying Windows 7 while they wait to upgrade to Windows 8.  Kupa’s X11 tablet has been on the marketplace for some time already.  It currently runs Windows 7 Professional, has enough power to smoothly play 1080p HD video with its Intel 1.5 GHz processor, and contains two USB ports and one mini HDMI port.  All this on a tablet with a 10 hour battery life and a screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768.

CES 2012: XPAND Shows the Ultimate Industry Changing Shutter Glasses

Adam Shear

viagra sales>While 3D shutter glasses provide the only way to experience full 1080p HD 3D in the market, there is a huge problem between the manufacturers of shutter glasses. If you buy a 3D TV which uses shutter glasses, you usually are stuck buying glasses specific to the brand of your TV. If you have a Samsung TV and want to watch something on your friend’s Panasonic TV, you would need a different pair of glasses. Thankfully, the major players in the industry realized that this is not ok. During the Summer of 2011, Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, and XPAND announced a collaboration called the Full HD 3D Glasses Initiative. The goal of this collaboration was to create a standard for 3D shutter glasses so that eventually every pair would work with every TV. The glasses you see above are the XPAND YOUniversal 3D shutter glasses. They are the result of this collaboration and thanks to XPAND, I got to try out a pair.

CES 2012: Samsung Smart Interaction Proves to be the Television of the Future

Adam Shear

One thing that was expected this year at CES was a natural interface for televisions.  A natural interface simply means a way of control that is natural to everyone.  Using the body and voice are of course the most natural inputs we have.  Samsung showed off Smart Interaction which will make its debut later this year on two of Samsung’s LED TVs and one plasma TV as well.  Smart Interaction allows a person to interact with Samsung’s TVs through gesture, voice control, and facial recognition.  This technology may seem familiar for those who own Kinect for Xbox 360, but this is the first time is it being natively added to a TV set.  The video above explains and shows off the concept much better than I can.  LG also showed a TV at CES with similar functions.  Comment below if you think this natural way of control is the way of the future or if you have spotted me in the video (I’m in it for maybe two seconds).  And of course if you have any questions, feel free to also comment below and I will personally answer you (same goes for all our posts).

CES 2012: PlayStation Vita Hands On

Adam Shear

With the launch of PlayStation Vita a month away, Sony took the opportunity at CES to show a majority of its PlayStation Vita launch titles as well as the system itself. During my time at the Sony booth, I tried out plenty of PlayStation Vita games and played around with its home screen. I won’t say many facts about PlayStation Vita, simply because you can check out our in depth launch guide here which gives you all the information on PlayStation Vita you need. Here are my thoughts below.

CES 2012: Hands on- Wii U

Adam Shear

Nintendo may have had a home run with the Wii, but many of their hardcore fans demand an all new console with high definition graphics. The Wii U, Nintendo’s next home console, will fill this demand and then some. What’s special about the Wii U is not the HD graphics or current gen console power, it’s the all new controller. The Wii U controller has a 6.2 inch touch screen smack in the middle, similar to a tablet. On the sides and back of the controller lay the buttons one would expect on a game controller such as all of the buttons that can be found on the Wii’s Classic Controller. The only difference is that the analog sticks have been replaced with circle pads. There is a front facing camera on the top for video chat which is surrounded by a Wii sensor bar built into the controller, as well as a microphone at the bottom. Inside the controller is a gyroscope and accelerometer for motion control. As you can see, there are a lot of different sensors in the controller which all work together to deliver gaming experiences that are just not possible on any other gaming system available today. While Nintendo is not exhibiting at CES, they did invite some members of the press, including me, to come to a private suite to try the Wii U out first hand. This is exactly what I did.

CES 2012: HDTV Day One Wrap Up- 4K, OLED, 3D Without Glasses, and Even 8K

Adam Shear

Just like any other year at CES, TVs are a huge part of the show.  I’m going to break down many of things I saw from various companies.  There were plenty of incredible new televisions on the show floor as well as some pretty bad ones.

LG: Always known for excellence, this company delivered on all of their TVs.  LG’s focus was on their Cinema 3D technology.  Whenever I saw LG Cinema 3D at Best Buy, the demo reel always looked very low resolution which made me think the final product had that.  When I set my eyeballs on LG’s demo reels on their new lineup of Cinema 3D TVs, I was amazed.  The picture looked crystal clear and worked without a hitch.  It felt very natural.  LG’s demo reels focused on things popping out the screen.  In one video, flower pedals are spread out all over the screen.  With five 3D TVs sitting next to each other are in sync, you feel like the flower pedals are surrounding you.

CES Unveiled Preview: Kivic One- AirPlay in Your Car

Adam Shear

20120108-233956.jpg

Car connected products will surely be a huge trend at CES. Kivic is a new company which hopes to take advantage of iOS products to bring top notch entertainment to your car. The Kivic One is a little box which creates the Wi-Fi connection needed for AirPlay. Connect it to any display in your car via HDMI, VGA, or any other supported input cables and enjoy it right in your car. I was shown a quick demo and it seemed to work perfectly. It cannot do AirPlay mirroring but Kivic is hoping to have mirroring in future versions. There’s also a version for Android but instead of AirPlay, it uses an app which the user pre loads their media on. This can be a pain but when done, it offers the same wireless playback experience. The Kivic One comes out in March for $200. Those looking to use their iOS device for supreme in car entertainment should definitely check it out.

CES Unveiled Hands On: Case Mate and Boost Case Cases

Adam Shear

A look at the Boot Case charging attachment. This comes with all cases

The second case company I got to check out was Case Mate, one of the most well known case manufacturers out there. They had a plethora of new cases. The first one I was shown was a new line of sweets cases. Cases of cupcakes, lolipops, cake, and more were all on display and look like great cases for girls. There were also jungle themed cases featuring frogs, parrots, and more.

Case Mate also featured rugged cases which come in two parts, a screen protector, followed by rugged back. It felt really good in the hand and I am told that the phone will survive in most accidents, even being run over by a car. In fact, everyone who attended CES Unveiled today got a rugged case courtesy of Case Mate. We will be sure to provide a review for it.

Case Mate and Boost Case had a great lineup of cases and this is only the beginning. Lookout for more CES coverage all this week and early next week
